Description:

For taller yogis or those using a longer mat, the extra long SKIDLESS yoga towel is a full foot longer than the standard mat-size SKIDLESS yoga towel. These towels are specifically designed for yoga practice to prevent slipping. They are lightweight, super-absorbent, and accented with tiny clear rubber dots which grip to your yoga mat, enabling you to have a steadier practice so you can revel in the full experience of being present. An added benefit of SKIDLESS yoga towels is putting a hygienic layer between you and your yoga mat, as well as heightening awareness of weight distribution between hands, fingers, feet, and toes. Truly a multi-purpose tool, when used on the reverse side they stimulate pressure points on hands and feet. These towels are easy to care for (machine wash/dryer). SKIDLESS towels are also great to travel with -- leave your yoga mat behind and pack a SKIDLESS towel instead! The towels are made from 80% polyester and 20% nylon, with all organic dyes. The plastic nubs contain less than .5% latex.

Extra-large size yoga towel for slip prevention

100 percent silicone eco nubs grip the mat or carpet

4Lets me do trikanasana with ease, if I use the towel dots up.Apr 24, 2008
Trikanasana was always my most feared posture in Bikram, in fact I hurt my hamstring several years ago when my foot slipped out from under me in this posture. With the Yogitoes towel, which I use upside-down (dots up) on a Manduka mat, I feel secure.

I know the dots are supposed to keep the towel from slipping on a mat, but the Manduka mat already has that covered, so I use the dots to keep my feet from slipping on the towel. I drizzle a little water from my water bottle for the length of the towel where I'm going to stand for this series, and I have great traction.

Now some may argue that one should be strong and balanced enough to do this posture on any surface. I have heard such sentiments uttered. That's fine, but you have to get to that point of strength and balance somehow, and until you do it's probably better not to be hurting yourself. Thus we have straps and blocks and other adaptive tools, and I see this mat as another adaptive tool.

It's also great to have a dedicated yoga towel. I don't have to coordinate usage of my regular towels or beach towels, this one is only for yoga and that helps when things are busy. These are less linty than normal towels, and also so thin that they fit right in the mat bag with my big old Manduka mat and 2 hand towels.

5Towel or Yogitoes?Apr 23, 2008
I prefer the Yogitoes towel over a regular towel. It is a must for Bikram Yoga or Power Yoga. It is easy to clean, just throw it in the washer and dryer.

5Love this yoga towelMar 17, 2008
This towel is wonderful for hot yoga (or any type of yoga for that matter). Nice size which washed up great and even after many times in the dryer still covers the mat with room to spare. I would highly recommend it.

Yogitoes Skidless Premium Mat-Size Yoga Towel
I was very disappointed in this "skidless" towel, as I slipped all through my yoga class. When I asked about returning it, I was told that I would only receive 50% back, after one use. Beware of buying something that you are unsure of --- you may lose money in the transaction if you need to return it.

4I'm a sweaty guyJan 28, 2008
I sweat a lot during even a moderate paced Vinyasa set, and this is a much better solution than keeping a hand towel nearby and interrupting yourself every few minutes to attempt to dry off the mat when it doesn't even really make it less slippery. I'd almost say that the more sweat you've got, the better this bad boy works.

A few tips, though:
1) Don't dry it with a dryer sheet since it makes it less absorbent and more slippery.
2) I let the towel hang off the front of my mat about a foot to allow about a foot of bare mat down where my feet are in downward dog. Since my feet don't typically get sweaty enough to slip, I find I have a better grip that way.
3) When starting a Yoga set, it helps to get your hands wet to start since the towel seems to be slipperier than a mat when dry.

I later bought the small towel that Yogitoes also makes which I now use even more often since it can just be placed near the top of your mat where your hands go. But, I like either depending on how hot the session gets.

I agree wholeheartedly with the other reviewers who use it in Bikram Yoga classes. The Yogitoes Big Skidless Yoga Towel is second to none in this capacity.
