Fast-moving, with no wasted time, it's a huge variety of Pilates-style moves in just 30 minutes. They all use the Firm Pilates band that's included with the DVD (a long, flat latex sheet, similar to a Dyna-band or Leslie Sansone Stretchie). The band serves two purposes - it increases the intensity of some moves and it helps maintain the correct body position in others.
All the Pilates classics are here, from leg circles and the hundred to double leg stretches and planks. In addition, you get Pilates-band variations of traditional toning moves like pushups and bicep curls. Alison Davis' cuing is encouraging and supportive ("nice big circles if you can, if not then just keep them small"). DVD not available without the band. Running time is 32 minutes.

Love Pilates!Feb 18, 2008 This product is nice to add to your rest day if you want to work out but don't want too much impact but still want to strech and work those muscles.
Great Workout - Bad VideoSep 09, 2007 As someone who is VERY new to pilates, I've been reading up and actually doing various Dvd's from different instructors. In this video she moves through it way to fast for someone just begging, like myself. Also from what I've come to understand from other videos and reviews, its all about breathing and the position of your body, in this video she doesn't mention anything about the proper way to breath and very little about having the right positions. However after doing the video, and doing it all wrong I learned, I still felt the burn and pilates is by far the best workout routine I've tried to date.
Great workoutAug 23, 2007 I am rather new to Pilates, having only used a beginners Winsor Pilates only a few weeks prior to using this one. I have been using this workout for over a month now. I find this to be a great way of jumpstarting a healthy lifestyle of working out regularly. You can reasonably do this workout every day if not every other day, maybe twice a day if time permits. The workout is only 30 minutes long and it targets the arms, chest, midsection and legs (your thighs and bottom). I have seen results within just a matter of weeks. With a combination of healthy eating, this is a great way to watch your body transform before your very eyes. Even for those who are already in great shape, this is a great way of maintaining. A few people have given negative reviews about the quality of the workout... even making statements about someone smiling too much and looking into the camera. Who cares? Just focus on your own personal goal and keep it moving!

I've Seen BetterJun 14, 2007 As an avid Pilates user, I have seen MANY Pilates books, and videos over the years, nothing prepared for the sloppiness I encountered during the viewing of this video. Allison, although a great aerobics instructor with The Firm, is obviously NOT certified in Pilates! Clearly, many of the moves on the video were done incorrectly! One girl was wobbling back and forth when she should be holding still. The breathing was all wrong too! She had you breathing through your mouth, when anyone who has practiced Pilates knows you need to breath through you NOSE! The pace of the video was way too fast for a beginner! She has you shooting from one exercise to another before you can get out of the original position you were in. I gave this workout 1 star because they didn't have the option for 1/2 stars. This workout is do bad that I don't want to give it a whole star!

Good intro workoutJun 03, 2007 I'm trying Pilates to improve flexibility and vary my exercise. I enjoy the workout provided, and it moves along nicely. I have read some about Pilates, and the instructor on the DVD does not lead off with information on breathing and technique, which I understand to be critical for a true Pilates workout. I still enjoy the DVD, but recommend reading a basic book (or attending a class) to supplement the instruction.
