Description:

Enjoy an efficient full-body workout without heading to the gym with the Sole E25 elliptical trainer. Boasting a heavy 23-pound flywheel, a high gear ratio not found on most comparable models, and a pair of upper body handles, the E25 delivers an extremely smooth workout with plenty of top-end resistance. Users will also appreciate the unique oversize and adjustable foot pedals, which were designed in collaboration with a leading physical therapist and sports enthusiast. The pedals are not only extra large, but also feature a 2-degree inward slope that reduces the ankle and knee stress that's common in other elliptical machines. And thanks to the stationary handle bars with built-in pulse sensors, it's a breeze to monitor your heart rate as you exercise (a chest strap is also included for highly accurate wireless monitoring).

Workout specifics include 16 resistance levels, six total programs, and a 20-inch stride length. Perhaps the handiest feature from a user perspective, however, is the easy-to-use electronic console, which integrates a blue backlit LCD display, a cooling fan, and a water bottle holder. The E25, which offers a maximum weight capacity of 300 pounds, carries the following warranties: lifetime on the frame, three years on all parts and electronics, and one year on the labor.

About Elliptical Trainers
Elliptical trainers represent the next wave of advancement in low-impact cardiovascular exercise machines and continue to grow in popularity. By simulating motions experienced through walking, stepping, cycling, and skiing, elliptical machines allow for a smooth and fluid motion while building strength in the arms and legs. Similar to the exercise position for treadmills, elliptical trainers are used by standing in an upright position while holding the handrails of the machine. With elliptical trainers, however, your feet remain in the foot pedals throughout the exercise regimen and circulate in a smooth and seamless motion, resulting in little to no impact on the knees, back, and hips.

Elliptical trainers are compatible for all ages and fitness levels and allow you to select the difficulty level through the incline and intensity settings. Additionally, elliptical trainers allow you to determine the complexity of your workout based on your needs, all while listening to music, watching television, or reading a magazine while exercising in the comfort and safety of your own home.

Although different types of elliptical trainers offer an assortment of features, many of them include an array of challenging programs, forward and reverse directional movement, EKG grip pulse handles, a lightweight portable design with easy fold-up capability, and a monitor displaying calories burned, distance, speed, time, and heart rate. Other types of exercise machines, namely treadmills and bikes, offer excellent cardiovascular exercise and muscular training for the legs in a forward-motion exercise. Elliptical trainers take this to the next level by offering an upper and lower body workout with dual motion, challenging and diverse programs, and a low-impact exercise machine that won't strain sensitive joints.

Features:

Reverse Motion--Allows you to work different muscle groups with the same exercise.

Action: Dual Action--Gives you an upper and lower body workout simultaneously.

Heart Rate Monitor: Pulse Grip and Chest Strap --Provides a convenient and accurate heart rate measurement.

Time Readout--Shows how much time is left for your workout.

Elapsed Time Readout--Shows how much time has passed since workout began.

5Wonderful Elliptical Trainer Updated for 2008Jul 03, 2008
When I started looking for an elliptical trainer, I looked at the units at a couple of local stores and saw various models of Proform, NordicTrack, Horizon, etc. None of them were fully to my liking. The ones that approached the quality that I was interested in were ~$1000, but they still didn't "wow" me.

I read so many online reviews, and had just ablout decided on a model, when I went to another local store that had the E25 on display. After looking it over and trying it out, I was sold. This machine met every one of my expectations. It is ultra-smooth, well built, and has a better feature set than most of the reviews indicated. (It is now obvious that those reviews were for the 2007 model.) The machine now has 20 levels of reistance and 10 programs. In addition, it is slightly heavier and has a higher maximum weight.

The instructions were fairly clear, and it took me only an hour to assemble it. I'm extremely happy with this elliptical trainer!

5Excellent machine, excellent valueJun 23, 2008
The Sole e25 elliptical is a solid machine that does not take up as much room in the home as many other models. We have had the machine for about 6 months and it is used on a regular basis. It arrives mostly assembled and although others have indicated it takes several hours to put together the rest of it, we had it together in about 1 hour. While most of the assembly can be done by 1 person, the final stages you really need two people.

Shipping was fast and free through Amazon Prime. Note that the default delivery is curbside (literally), so if you don't want to haul this thing in from the curb, you might want to have a friend around to help get it inside (it's pretty heavy in the box).

The action is smooth and virtually silent. I am not even awakened by it when my wife uses it in the early morning in our bedroom.

Others have written here that after a few months, their machines began to make noise. Our experience has been that after about four months, dust collected on the rear rails. Since there is lubricant on the rails, dust can settle and collect in the lubricant. Our elliptical started to make a little noise from the friction. A simple 5 minute wiping down of the rails and relubing it solved that easily. A tube of clear lube came with the elliptical, which was convenient.

The screen is bright and clear. The workouts are varied and excellent. The speaker is decent for MP3 playing. The fan is almost useless, but a nice touch.

Very solid construction and we are delighted with our purchase.

5A great machineJun 10, 2008
I ordered this direct from Sole. Free shipping and no taxes. I ordered it on a Monday and received it the following Monday. Putting it together was easy and took less than an hour.

I looked around for a good machine for a long time and was glad this one could be tested at Dicks Sporting Goods becuase it kept popping up as a good machine to buy for under $1000. I have used many gym ellipticals and obviously this one is not built the same as the ones in the gyms, but of the ones I tested this was the most sturdy. Other models I tried felt cheap and full of plastic.

We just put it together so I have not been using it long so I will provide an update after a month or so. From my first impression, it's very quiet, you can get a really good workout. The speakers are no home theater system but they get the job done for the purpose of a workout.

If you want a quality machine, this is one to get.

1A great machine until it malfunctionsMay 21, 2008
I chose the E25 after extensive research and received it as a Christmas gift in 2007. I'm a big guy (250) and this model purports to handle weight capacity of up to 325 lbs. It doesn't. For three months, it worked perfectly, then one day the rollers slipped off the track and gouged the aluminum rails. The machine kept going off track and was unusable. Sole warranty service sent replacement parts and had a technician come to my home yesterday to repair. Within 3 minutes of starting my first workout, the SAME PROBLEM happened again. I'm waiting for Sole's response to my request for either repair or replacement. More recent expert reviews indicate that the actual weight capacity for this machine is actually about 230 lbs; I wish those reviews were out when I selected this machine.

4Definitely worth the money. Great Value! May 09, 2008
I recieved my E25 a week ago and just set it up. It took about an hour but the instructions were pretty straight forward. So far this elliptical is the best I've seen of its kind. Very solid, especially for this price. The customer service was excellent and, so far, I couldn't be happier with my decision!
