Description:

Elliptical trainers provide an effective cardiovascular workout that combines upper and lower body flexibility and coordination into one impact-free motion. By emulating the natural motion of your foot while supporting your heel throughout the stride, elliptical trainers are much easier on your knees and joints. In addition to feeling more natural while working out, regular use on ellipticals will increase heart and lung capacity while improving your health (and burning calories at the same time).

In addition to accommodating a wide variety of users with its lengthened 18 inch/46 centimeter stride, the Schwinn 418 Elliptical Trainer also incorporates an articulating footplate, which follows the natural motion of your foot and supports your heel throughout the entire stride motion. Additional features of Schwinn's 418 Elliptical Trainer include a grip heart-rate monitoring and a high-inertia drive system using an oversized flywheel and Poly V-belt. The quiet magnetic resistance Eddy Current Brake provides a smooth ride. The more than ten workout programs include: rolling, valley, fat burn, ramp, plateau, intervals, mountain, heart rate, and manual mode. An LCD display shows time, speed, distance, revolutions per minute, resistance level, calories and calories per hour, load, and heart rate and course profile.

About Elliptical Trainers
Elliptical trainers represent the next wave of advancement in low-impact cardiovascular exercise machines and continue to grow in popularity. By simulating motions experienced through walking, stepping, cycling, and skiing, elliptical machines allow for a smooth and fluid motion while building strength in the arms and legs. Similar to the exercise position for treadmills, elliptical trainers are used by standing in an upright position while holding the handrails of the machine. With elliptical trainers, however, your feet remain in the foot pedals throughout the exercise regimen and circulate in a smooth and seamless motion, resulting in little to no impact on the knees, back, and hips.

Elliptical trainers are compatible for all ages and fitness levels and allow you to select the difficulty level through the incline and intensity settings. Additionally, elliptical trainers allow you to determine the complexity of your workout based on your needs, all while listening to music, watching television, or reading a magazine while exercising in the comfort and safety of your own home.

Although different types of elliptical trainers offer an assortment of features, many of them include an array of challenging programs, forward and reverse directional movement, EKG grip pulse handles, a lightweight portable design with easy fold-up capability, and a monitor displaying calories burned, distance, speed, time, and heart rate. Other types of exercise machines, namely treadmills and bikes, offer excellent cardiovascular exercise and muscular training for the legs in a forward-motion exercise. Elliptical trainers take this to the next level by offering an upper and lower body workout with dual motion, challenging and diverse programs, and a low-impact exercise machine that won't strain sensitive joints.

5WHAT A KNOCK OUT MACHINE!!!Jul 17, 2008
What a great piece of elliptical machine. I purchased mine through Craigslist for only $200 bucks! What a steal right?! Assembled a few parts and I was ready to give it a try...IT WAS VERY STURDY AND SMOOTH!!! I can honestly say, this is probably one of the best elliptical machines I have ever used!

Now off I go losing some extra weight!!!

4WORTH THE MONEYJul 14, 2008
The only bad things about this product is that a screw was missing and that the screen is hard to read. Besides that I love it, It was a well worth money. I am 5'3" and the stride is perfect for me. It is a very smooth machine.

4GOOD PRICE GOOD BARGAINJul 12, 2008
pros: good entry level elliptical, 18inch stride, does great job, fast installation ( if you have 2 people )
cons: little squeky, not more programs, very small display

5Great EllipticalJun 30, 2008
This is a really nice piece of equipment. I was surprised at how well made it is considering the very low price. Note on putting it together: some of the hardware is already on the trainer parts and so it won't be in the bag of hardware provided. Initially I thought I was missing items.

4Need a little more timeJun 28, 2008
I have been very happy with my elliptical until just recently. My muscles haven't looked and felt like this in years. BUT, it has started to make some noises that I don't know how to fix. I tried tightening everything I could think of and now need to call the company. Until I can contact them and see what the results are, I will have to leave it at a semi happy with the product. The one thing I have liked so much is that it has been sooooo quiet. Now, we shall see if Schwinn comes through for me.
