5excellent value!Jan 16, 2008
After much research online and in stores, I bought this elliptical for my daughter for Christmas. It was an excellent value, relatively easy to assemble, compact yet sturdy. The cup holder and fan were especially appreciated by my daughter. I loved the free shipping and speedy delivery. I would highly recommend this product and doing business with amazon.com!

1Doesn't feel like an elliptical.Dec 14, 2007
Contrary to what many other reviewers have said, I did recieve my Pro Form 825 Elliptical with all of the necessary pieces. Some have mentioned that parts were missing. It did take me 2 hours to assemble it and I'm really good at assembling things. I wasn't impressed with that. What I was really concerned with is getting back into shape. I'm not sure that this piece of equipment will cut it. It feels like you are falling forward while you are on this machine. It doesn't feel like being on an eliptical and it doesn't have a smooth pedaling motion. It is actually very jerky. The manual also recommends that you only pedal forward. Using this piece of equipment feels like being on a bicyle, without a seat, that has bad geers, going down a relatively steep hill. It also feels as though the only muscles being worked are my hamstrings. If you ever fell in love with one of those expensive elliptical like a PreCore at the Gym, then do not buy this product. You will be left very disappointed.

3Desperation is the author of bad purchases.Jun 23, 2007
I do not recommend buying this machine. It is wobbly at moderate to high speeds, the stride feels like you're plodding and there are few adjustments aside from increased difficulty. To its credit, your buns will get a fabulous workout due to the stride arrangement. If you have little monetary resources to allocate to a piece of exercise equipment, relatively low expectations on performance and few other alternatives then add to cart and proceed to check out. Be forewarned though, she's a rudimentary beast.

1poorly packagedApr 08, 2007
Just received this product. Please be warned they have not taken care that the specialty bolts/hardware needed to assemble are packaged to take shipping. Even the packing foam was in pieces - I am missing parts and must now attempt to get them replaced. Very disappointing - be warned!!!

5Awesome for Beginners and IntermediateDec 06, 2006
I think I have the Stride Rite 825 as well. I like Proform.

Pros:
1. Unbeatable price
2. Gives you the workout you are looking for.
3. Light enough to move from room to room.
4. Has a fan to keep you cool.
5. Safe around kids - my 3 yr old daughter has used it too.

Cons:
1. Makes a clunking noise at times - does not bother me too much.
2. The resistance setting is not as obvious. I rotate the knob but I am not sure if it really increased the resistance until I start using it and feel the burn.

Ease of installation - I had Sears install it for me, so don't know.

I say it is a no-frills, great priced piece of equipment. I didn't want to spend more than this price on an equipment. It gives us the workout we need. My husband uses it almost everyday for close to 30 minutes. I am trying to get more regular. We have had it for several months now.
Even if I have a few minutes, I use it. Something is better than nothing.
