About Elliptical Trainers
Elliptical trainers represent the next wave of advancement in low-impact cardiovascular exercise machines and continue to grow in popularity. By simulating motions experienced through walking, stepping, cycling, and skiing, elliptical machines allow for a smooth and fluid motion while building strength in the arms and legs. Similar to the exercise position for treadmills, elliptical trainers are used by standing in an upright position while holding the handrails of the machine. With elliptical trainers, however, your feet remain in the foot pedals throughout the exercise regimen and circulate in a smooth and seamless motion, resulting in little to no impact on the knees, back, and hips.

Elliptical trainers are compatible for all ages and fitness levels and allow you to select the difficulty level through the incline and intensity settings. Additionally, elliptical trainers allow you to determine the complexity of your workout based on your needs, all while listening to music, watching television, or reading a magazine while exercising in the comfort and safety of your own home.

Although different types of elliptical trainers offer an assortment of features, many of them include an array of challenging programs, forward and reverse directional movement, EKG grip pulse handles, a lightweight portable design with easy fold-up capability, and a monitor displaying calories burned, distance, speed, time, and heart rate. Other types of exercise machines, namely treadmills and bikes, offer excellent cardiovascular exercise and muscular training for the legs in a forward-motion exercise. Elliptical trainers take this to the next level by offering an upper and lower body workout with dual motion, challenging and diverse programs, and a low-impact exercise machine that won't strain sensitive joints.

5Great Elliptical TrainerMar 23, 2008
Got this product for my wife, was a little worried how it was going to be because how cheap the price is. I can tell you that it is a great product. This company also offers a great warranty of lifetime on the frame and 1 year for any components. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great elliptical at a bargain price. It went together pretty simple. Once you take all the parts out of the box it looks a little intimidating but it really wasn't hard at all. The on board computer does everything you would ever need. The 8 different levels of adjustment works great. I read someone had problems saying that it didn't feel like it adjusted enough, I can tell you there is a big difference from level 1 and level 8. When you put together the tension cable just be sure to unscrew it to the max so it gives the best range of adjustment. The wife is currently only using the level 1, and is getting great workouts from it.

I give the HealthTrainer an A+...

3Some concernsFeb 12, 2008
this is a good machine and provides a good workout though the manual tension is a bit iffy in providing a distinct difference from setting to setting. The electronics are large and easy to read and the machine is reasonably compact. Unfortunately after two months of consistant usage one of the rear roller wheels shredded. Keys Fitness Customer service was GREAT in getting a replacement out quickly however. One of the reasons I brought this particular unit is because of its one year warranty, which was longer than most similar machines 90-day warranty. I hope the wheel issue is simply an anomoly and not a chronic problem.

3Entry Level OnlyFeb 12, 2008
This unit is built well for its size & Price. Unfortunately, its not built well for my size... As far as the unit, the parts move smoothly and the assembly was not overly complicated. I would not recomend it if you fall into either of the following categories: 1. if you are 200lbs plus, 2. if you are a serious athlete.

I weigh about 195, and I'm in reletively good shape. The resistance setting doesn't really offer significant force. The "easy" setting feels like you are moving with no resistance what so ever, and the "hard" setting only offers a slight difference. The other problem is the base width. Because of my weight, if I ride a little hard, the base wobbles.

All in total, it is a good price and build for light weight user, light fitness. If you plan on training for anything, you will likely have to spend more money, on a more solid unit, or join a gym with very robust machines.

4Working Great So FarJan 13, 2008
I have been looking for an elliptical for a long time now and finally decided on this one. I had seen it on a couple of sites and Amazon had the best price plus the free shipping. I ordered it on 1/6/08 and had it on the 11th. It was fairly easy to put together as long as you sort out all the parts and follow the directions. So far it seems to be a great piece of equipment for the price paid. It has a very smooth glide and the screen is really easy to read. I also like the size. It's really not that big of a unit and the front has wheels so it can be rolled out of the way easily if needed. Overall I really enjoy it so far and recommend to anyone looking in this price range. :)
