Once again; Product=5,Amazon=1Jun 18, 2008 The trainer is as advertised, and works great. Good unit for the money. Simple to set-up and use. I would certainly recommend getting a road-type tire for the rear of your bike if you are using with a mountain bike, as the vibration of the tire can get loud and be irritating after a while. But, I'm sure that's the case with any trainer.
The problem... ...AMAZON. When I clicked "THIS IS A GIFT", I assumed it would arrive in some sort of nondescript packaging. No, it arrived in it's box, proudly displayed on my porch where, upon arriving home from work, my wife gat an early birthday present. HELLO? AMAZON? Anyone home? Second order in as many months that had problems. Seriously considering shopping elsewhere from now on.
Not bad for the priceJun 08, 2008 I bought this item so I could continue riding my bike through the tough Chicago winters. I had no idea it was going to be SO LOUD! I live in a condominium, and after the first day of using this product, I got a "not so friendly" visit from the people who live downstairs. Before long, I also got the same type of visit from several other neighbors. After about a week, this item went into storage. I probably should just sell it, because as long as I live in this condo, I won't be able to use it, because of the noise.
The item works well, it's just extremely loud. I suggest not getting it unless you live in a house. It makes it very difficult to listen to music while riding too.
GOMay 25, 2008 Trainer arrived very promptly as promised; however, the shipping box looked like it had been through WWIII. I decided to take pictures of the box before opening just to be on the safe side. I was please to see that the Bell Motivator Mag Trainer had not suffered any damage. My second concern was when I found a part included that had no description as to what it was or how to use it and the user's guide left a lot to be desired. Fortunately, the customer service rep I talked to was very helpful and I was up and riding in short order. I have used the trainer daily since receiving and although a bit loud it is not nearly as bad as I had anticipated after reading many other reviews prior to ordering. The unit is very stable and I absolute will say it fits my needs without a hitch. Good product - I would have given this a 5 but considering the condition of the box at the time of receipt plus extremely poor instructions I think a 4 is fair.

Not enough resistance, stripped adjustment wheel couldn't be replaced easilyMay 14, 2008 This is a very basic trainer with very little resistance. This really is best for beginner bikers.
In addition, the tension adjustment knob is made of cheap plastic which stripped and cracked within a few weeks. When I called the company for support they said that they didn't have any extra ones that they could send me. They told me I would have to mail in the entire unit to have it replaced. It certainly wasn't worth the cost shipping for a 30-cent piece of cheap plastic.
I haven't done it yet, but I'm going to take it somewhere to have a metal crank welded on to replace the cheap plastic adjustment knob. Until then, I have to use a pair of pliers to adjust the tension.
The unit is easy to setup and to get the bike setup on it. I didn't need to use the extra skewer that was provided but you may if you have an older bike.
I recommend you buy slick tires to use with this (and any other) trainer. I very quickly went out and bought slick tires for my mountain bike because the knobby tires makes too much noise. Even with the slicks the noise is louder than I would like, but this is not the unit making the noise - it's the vibration from the tires which you will have with any unit. Another thing that helped was setting up the trainer and bike on a set of foam floor pads to reduce tranmission of vibrations to the rest of the room.
Good quality product, just a bit noisyMay 09, 2008 You can't go wrong with the price on this item. The structure itself is strong, does not look cheap and no assembling required. I wish the rotator was adjustable to set a stronger resistance but the price on those models are more than double.
Some people reviews say it is a bit noisy but since I have mine in the living room and I use it while watching TV it makes very easy to ignore the noise. Specially if watching American Funniest Videos at night! =)
It works for those days it is too dark/cold/hot to go bike outside. It definely has helped to increase my biking resistance.
